Broad participation by civil society is key to a strong recovery in Europe
A hearing organised by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) discussed opportunities and challenges in the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plans in the various Member States, revealing that civil society is still far from being effectively involved in the process. There were calls for improved consultations in the upcoming implementing phase, following the shortcomings at the drafting stage
CARE commits $130M to work towards SDG5: gender equality
10 Million women and girls will be supported by the global confederation working to fight poverty in 104 countries through Village Savings and Loans Savings Groups as part of a global strategy to transform gender dynamics and achieve gender equality. CARE applauds the convening of the Generation Equality Forum (GEF) in Paris, and as one of the organizations leading one of the “Action Coalitions” during the forum, is making bold commitments towards a future of gender equality by 2030
EU Commission proposes coordinated measures for the safe reopening of the cultural sector
The Commission has just published EU guidelines to ensure the safe resumption of activities in the cultural and creative sectors across the EU. These guidelines are expected to guide the design and implementation of measures and protocols in EU countries to cover both the safe reopening as well as the sustainable recovery in the cultural and creative sectors
Energy transition: EU needs speed change
The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) addresses the state of play of the Energy Union and the national energy and climate plans, warning that the 2050 EU energy and climate objectives can only be reached with a change of pace in the transition and that citizens must really be put at the heart of the process

This landmark exhibition of Fondazione Berengo explores the creative idiosyncrasies of glass work produced by female artists who continue to be sidelined in the art world. Featuring visionary artists from Europe, the United States, Latin America, and Asia the show brings together an ambitious line-up of women who have worked with Berengo studio in its furnaces on Murano during its thirty years of history. The exhibition is open until 7th January 2021

Dissident Ukrainian film director Oleg Sentsov was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for terrorism and arms trafficking after a trial denounced as “Stalinist”. In 2018 he was awarded the Sakharov Prize by the European Parliament
