AI in Europe: not all decisions can be reduced to ones and zeros, says the EESC
In two reports on draft EU legislation on artificial intelligence, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) calls for an all-out ban on social scoring in the EU and for a complaint and redress mechanism for people who have suffered harm from an AI system.
Broad participation by civil society is key to a strong recovery in Europe

EU Commission proposes coordinated measures for the safe reopening of the cultural sector
The Commission has just published EU guidelines to ensure the safe resumption of activities in the cultural and creative sectors across the EU. These guidelines are expected to guide the design and implementation of measures and protocols in EU countries to cover both the safe reopening as well as the sustainable recovery in the cultural and creative sectors
Energy transition: EU needs speed change
The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) addresses the state of play of the Energy Union and the national energy and climate plans, warning that the 2050 EU energy and climate objectives can only be reached with a change of pace in the transition and that citizens must really be put at the heart of the process

Unbreakable: Women in Glass
With the exhibition “Unbreakable: Women in Glass”, curators Nadja Romain and Koen Vanmechelen balance the glass work of 64 contemporary women artists with the masculinity of a legendary Venetian glass furnace. This landmark exhibition of Fondazione Berengo explores the creative idiosyncrasies of glass work produced by female artists who continue to be sidelined in the art world. Featuring visionary artists from Europe, the United States, Latin America, and Asia the show brings together an ambitious line-up of women who have worked with Berengo studio in its furnaces on Murano during its thirty years of history. The exhibition is open until 7th January 2021
