2 Parisian entrepreneurs put together a team of chefs refugees , “to change the view on migrants and to enhance the cultural background they bring, their competence and their authentic and unknown cuisines”.

Change perspective on the migrant crisis… thanks to food! Les Cuistots Migrateurs (Migrant Chefs) is a network of chefs refugees. The idea? To discover the world’s cuisines, the authentic and ignored, prepared in Paris by chefs coming from every corner of the world.

The project was born thanks to the insight of two friends, Louis Jacquot e Sebastien Prunier, who launched some months ago one the first catering in the world with cooks refugees.

The aim of their project is “to change attitude on migrants and to enhance the cultural background they bring, their competences as well as their authentic and unknown cuisine”.

As Sébastien Prunier explains: “ Together with associations as Singa, we have formed an incredible team of cooks. With them we have created a catalogue of more than 100 innovative and authentic recipes.

Les Cuistots migrateurs, that is made of 6 chefs at the moment, coming from Syria, Cecenia, Iran, India and Ethiopia, proposes cocktails and buffets for individuals and enterprises as well as dinners thanks to the cooperation with partner restaurants.

In order to develop their business and be better structured and more professional Les Cuistots Migrateurs launched a crowdfunding campaign on ulule, that has proven very successful (they reached 128% of the request).

Les Cuistots Migrateurs aims to “forget the usual rhetoric that reduces refugees to the status of victims, to mere numbers or worst to threats. Refugees are close to us, they are people like us with a story and a family, with dreams, and people who try to rebuild their lives after all they went through. Their expertise is not only recipes to share but also skills and competencies to enhance".
