Diane Sheard, interim Europe Executive Director at The ONE Campaign calls on all UK political leaders to confirm their commitment to that cause, which is at the heart of British values.

The UK and countries across Europe and beyond have woken up to a different world today following the EU referendum result. Undoubtedly, there will be challenges ahead as the UK and the EU work out the details of their separation. However, one constant that must be guaranteed is that the UK and the EU must continue to deliver their promises on fighting extreme poverty and supporting the world’s poorest. We call on all UK political leaders to confirm their commitment to that cause, which is at the heart of British values.

«After the UK's biggest democratic vote of modern times» said Diane Sheard, interim Europe Executive Director at The ONE Campaign «we remind ourselves that when we went to the ballot boxes yesterday we were also casting a vote for those without a voice. As Britain recalibrates its place in the global community, it must maintain and enhance its strong reputation and position as a leader in international development, honouring its domestic and international obligations and promises, including the 2015 law that invests just 0.7% of our national income to help end extreme poverty».
