EU Commission proposes coordinated measures for the safe reopening of the cultural sector

The Commission has just published EU guidelines to ensure the safe resumption of activities in the cultural and creative sectors across the EU. These guidelines are expected to guide the design and implementation of measures and protocols in EU countries to cover both the safe reopening as well as the sustainable recovery in the cultural and creative sectors

From Venice to the world, to promote human rights

Cosmocafes are real conversations between people who are experts or interested in human rights, taking place all around the world, for 18 months in total. They are part of the Human Rights Pavilion, a project by Belgian artist Koen Vanmechelen. The final goal? To establish a permanent and supranational Human Rights Pavilion as part of the Venice Biennial. The project was initiated in Venice, and there we embarked on participating in one of these conversations with Italian and foreign experts

Belgian artist Koen Vanmechelen inaugurated on the 8th of May 2019 the Human Rights Pavilion project in Murano, Venice, at the Berengo Art Studio, together with partners Global Campus of Human Rights, Fondazione Berengo, and the MOUTH Foundation. Migrateful is a social enterprise based in London that gives asylum seekers and refugees looking for a job a space to share the recipes of their countries, their culture and stories, giving them professional training and English lessons. In 2017 Jess Thompson, founder of Migrateful, was awarded for the project by Unltd, the Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs

Canada, doctors can prescribe art visits as therapy

The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, together with the Francophone Association of Doctors in Canada, has launched a pilot project lasting one year. Associated doctors will be able to issue up to 50 prescriptions to guarantee patients and their families a free visit to the Museum of Fine Arts, as complementary therapy to traditional medical treatments

Cultural projects: Italy in the lead

The European Economic and Social Committee has received 150 applications from 27 EU Member States for its Civil Society Prize 2018, that this year focuses on culture. Italy, that has presented 24 projects, is in the first place for number of applications sent, followed by Germany and Belgium, both on 13, nearly half of the Italian applications, and by Greece, with 11 applications.
