The European Commission has adopted a Special Measure worth over €1.4 billion in support of refugees who have fled the war in Syria and their host communities. The money will go towards education, health, municipal and social infrastructure, and socio-economic support. In addition, a further €79 million of previously allocated funds for humanitarian aid projects has been contracted to a number of partners, including UN agencies, international organizations as well as international NGOs.
