SLASummit is a social entrepreneurship not-for-profit with the aim of becoming a student-led development project incubator. SLASummit's main event is a conference and case competition designed to discuss fundamental social, political and economic problems affecting Latin American communities and implement viable solutions to foster sustainable development.
A four-day case competition gathering students from universities around the world, SLASummit sets out to not only highlight major issues facing Latin American communities but also cultivate ideas proposing tangible solutions to these problems.
By connecting academic experts in related fields and social entrepreneurs with real-world experience to give both TED-style talks and interactive workshops, the conference emerges as a unique platform to develop innovative and creative projects that will be sustainably implemented and maintained for years to come. Differentiating itself as more than just a case competition to apply critical thinking and presentation skills, the purpose of SLASummit is to the develop winning ideas into solutions that will visibly improve the lives of Latin American communities in need.
Most importantly, SLASummit’s overarching vision is to demonstrate that limited resources (in this case $5,000) can lead to huge impacts when used wisely. In its second year, SLASummit aims to establish itself as an incubator for sustainable development projects and as a replicable model of how to implement such initiatives.
